Who we are
We’re Marta and Łukasz Malinowski. We’re a married couple and for years we’ve shared one passion: photography. It started with trips together, where instead of souvenirs we brought home memory cards full of photos. Over time friends began asking us for photos, then their friends, and that’s how we started photographing for others too.
Photography isn’t a production line for us. We both have day jobs in other fields, and we take photos out of passion. That’s why we don’t do mass-produced sessions: we only take on as many bookings as we can prepare without rushing. We plan each one individually, come to every session together and edit every photo ourselves rather than outsourcing it.
We work mainly in Warsaw and the surrounding area. We do outdoor family sessions, christenings, First Communions, proms (studniówki), boudoir sessions and studio portraits. We take each one equally seriously, because for you it’s always a one-off day.
You can feel at a session that we’re married. We understand each other without words: one glance and we know who takes the wide frame and who goes for the close-up of a grandmother’s hand holding her grandchild. Many families tell us it’s easier to relax with two calm people than with a stranger behind a big camera.
How we work as a pair
Two people means two perspectives on the same moment. At celebrations we split the work so nothing gets missed:
- Two cameras, two frames. While one of us captures the whole scene, the other looks for emotion and detail: tears of joy, clasped hands, a child’s smile.
- Photos and film at the same time. One of us can work as the camera operator. The photographer handles only photos and the operator only film, so nobody has to rush between a camera and a video rig.
- Two places at once. Getting ready at mum’s and at the grandparents’, the church from the front and from the choir loft, the entrance and the dance floor: as a pair we can be wherever the action is.
- Calm on set. With children, one of us keeps the little one busy with play while the other takes photos. At a boudoir session you can ask for Marta to be on set.
How we take our photos
Light comes first
A good photo starts with light. Outdoors we book sessions for the golden hour, in the morning or before sunset, when the light is soft, warm and easy on the eyes. We position people so the sun outlines their hair instead of casting harsh shadows on their faces. On a cloudy day we use the clouds as a giant natural softbox.
In church we work only with available light, with no flash during the liturgy. At receptions and proms we bounce the flash off the ceiling or walls so the light looks natural. In the studio and at the prom photo wall we set up professional studio lights, while for boudoir a large window and a white curtain are often all we need.
Documentary rather than stiff posing
Most of our photos are documentary: we watch and wait for real moments. We don’t ask anyone to “look at the camera and say cheese”. When we do portraits, they’re short and guided: how to stand, where to put your hands, which way to turn your head. Instead of “smile” we give the family a task: race to the tree, whisper a secret, hug as hard as you can. The smiles come by themselves.
Composition and detail
At every session we shoot three kinds of frames: wide ones that show the place and the atmosphere; medium ones that capture relationships between people; and close-ups of details such as a christening candle, hands at the altar or the lace of a dress. That way the gallery can become an album that tells the whole story, not just a set of portraits.
From the air
For selected sessions we bring a drone. From above we show the church, the manor or palace where the reception takes place, a family on a blanket in the middle of a meadow, or a whole graduating class before they walk into the ball. We fly by the rules, never over gatherings of people, and only where airspace and weather allow.
Our gear
We shoot on Fujifilm cameras. We chose them for colours that have been linked with Fuji’s analogue film for decades: natural skin tones, warm light and gentle tonal transitions.
- Fujifilm GFX100 II: a medium-format camera with a 102 MP sensor, almost 1.7 times larger than full frame. It gives enormous detail, smooth transitions between sharp subject and background, and rich tonality in highlights and shadows. Its photos can be printed large and still stay sharp. It’s our main camera for portraits, studio, boudoir and family sessions.
- Fujifilm X-T5: a fast, light and discreet camera with a 40 MP APS-C sensor, in-body stabilisation and quick autofocus. It shines in documentary work, when every second counts, and in church, where you need to work quietly. It records 4K video, so it’s also our camera for ceremony films.
- Fast prime lenses and zooms: they let us shoot in low light without flash and get a softly blurred background.
- Studio lights and light modifiers: we bring them to proms, branding sessions, clients’ homes and corporate shoots.
- A drone: for photos and film from the air.
- AI software: the business editions of Gemini and OpenAI for changing light, background or outfits, Topaz for denoising, sharpening and enlarging, and Adobe Photoshop for finishing every photo by hand. Details on the AI photo editing page.
Why medium format? A larger sensor gathers more light and information. In practice that means smoother skin without artificial retouching, natural depth, and photos you can print large for your wall without losing quality.
From the session to your photos
- A chat before the session. We ask about you, the plan for the day, and the people and moments that matter most. We suggest the location, outfits and time of day.
- The session or celebration. We arrive early, check the light and work calmly, without rushing or taking centre stage.
- Selection. From hundreds or thousands of frames we choose the best: sharp, with good expressions, no closed eyes.
- Hand editing. We edit every photo individually: colour, light, crop, gentle skin retouching. We avoid heavy filters; the photos should still look good in 20 years.
- Online gallery. You get the finished photos in a private, password-protected gallery, in full resolution for print and a web version.
- Prints and albums. If you’d like your photos on paper, we’ll prepare Fine Art prints, an album or a large wall print.
What matters to us
- Naturalness. We want you to look like yourselves in the photos, just in the best light.
- Discretion. In church, at boudoir sessions and around children we stay quiet and out of the way. We publish photos only with your consent.
- Individual care, not mass production. We photograph out of passion, so we prepare every session separately and with the same commitment.
- Punctuality and deadlines. We arrive early, and we deliver photos by the date in the contract.
- Clear terms. Prices on the website, every surcharge listed openly, a contract before every session.
- Data protection. Galleries are password-protected, and we process your data in line with GDPR.
